Hi, my name is prospective student…

Hi, my name is prospective student…

I have resided in Los Angeles my life that is entire and I don’t ever recall meeting anyone famous, despite having Hollywood in my yard. Nonetheless, as a result of USC, personally i think like we’ve become somewhat of the celebrity among America’s teenagers (well, not to ever the known level of Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber) because thousands of students want to satisfy me personally every fall. As far as I’d like to think it’s me personally, senior school seniors desire to make sure I comprehend their strong desire for USC. They make the effort to meet me at high school visits, at off-campus receptions, and during their campus visits. The target: to be sure I can put a real face to a title for an application. I don’t blame them. USC is definitely an extraordinary place where students can come to achieve their academic goals and prepare themselves due to their future careers. But as it is possible to imagine, I meet 1000s of pupils during the fall semester and while i must say i take the time to remember as much students as you can, I’m perhaps not getting any younger and my memory seriously isn’t exactly the same.

My blog series ‘Do This, Not That’ is inspired by a guide given to me by my mom: Eat This, Not That (she thinks I need to drop a few lbs but that’s not going to happen. Los Angeles’ diverse cultures has me trying foods that are different time!) That being said, we’m right here to give you with some advice about how to contact your admission counselor and make sure it is a experience that is meaningful both parties. Every morning i’m greeted with over 40 emails and immediately tell myself: ‘this is likely to be a long time.’ But as I filter through them, we realize these emails are from potential pupils who wish to ‘introduce’ themselves to me. Works out, only four e-mails have concerns that I need to answer. Three of them have quick easy responses (I’m glad we have this type of thorough web site, i refer to it when I don’t remember something). The past one, this one is special. A student asks me a question i don’t know the solution to and I can not discover the answer on the website. I’ll take this challenge! My obligation as admission therapist is to make sure my students are well informed applicants. I understand this process is confusing and difficult to navigate but I will do my best to clarify things for you. I will do my research and respond to your question. I really don’t have all the answers so when student asks me something I actually don’t know, they truly are sharpening my skills. We appreciate this type of interaction with students because this lets me know they want to make sure USC is a good fit for them that they are taking this admission process very seriously and. Therefore I challenge you to definitely challenge your admission counselor and question them concerns for your benefit. We’re ready!

5 Things to Double Check Always Before Striking Submit.

1. You have filled out all necessary fields on the applying

This might seem like common sense, however with therefore response that is many to complete, it’s rather easy to unintentionally skip or overlook a question. Be certain to respond to any or all applicable questions to ensure that you submit a complete application.

2. No errors or typos

We understand that senior year is really a busy time, but absolutely leave time and energy to proofread the job. Have friend or family member do similar for you personally. An application that is riddled with errors demonstrates you do not know how to write and/or don’t care enough to check your work, both of which are harmful.

3. You actually explain why you need to attend USC, be specific

Most colleges will ask question akin to ‘Why are you wanting to attend our institution?’ Instead than being generic and stating you want an university with school spirit, in a city that is large where you can study biology, do your research and mention specific programs, research opportunities, or classes that interest you.

4. Academic summary and self-reported supplemental test scores

Despite the fact that your academic history and self-reported test ratings appear as optional items, it is in your benefit to accomplish them regarding the application that is common. Often test ratings or transcripts can get lost within the mail, so it helps if you self-report the information as well. This way we can continue to evaluate your file for the time being while waiting for the official documents to arrive.

5. That you truly hit the submit button…for both app that is common supplement

Every year there are students who surprisingly forget to actually hit the submit button. Also sometimes, students hit submit for the common application, but forget to submit the USC Supplement. It may be the part that is easiest of this application, but make sure you don’t forget that last step.

*Deadlines are very important so please be aware that you must submit by December 1st to https://shmoop.pro/the-bell-jar-points-to-ponder/ be considered for merit scholarship. With that being said, we all know some things are out of your control such as letters of suggestion and official transcripts. That is another explanation you will need to fill in your academic summary, once we wait for official documents to arrive as we can evaluate that in the meantime. Strive to have all documents in by December 1st, but we understand if some of those documents that are supplemental in only a little after the deadline.
